I finally found a stylish bike helmet I like, so here is my Yakkay Bike Helmet review! Those who follow my posts will know that I have been on a quest to be a stylish cyclist. Not easy to accomplish when bikes are still viewed as little more than an exercise tool. I can’t think of how many times I have scoured the Internet searching for stylish cycling gear, only to be disappointed. However, I am not giving up. And last month I found the Rogue trousers from Showers Pass (which I reviewed here), so there is hope! Finally, I found this Yakkay helmet and cover in a lovely plaid. The cover is actually called Paris Bluered. Here is the helmet, modeled by my good friend Zee.
And here’s me, kitted out with my Yakkay helmet, cycling jacket, and Arkel panniers:
The helmet is modeled on equestrian helmet designs which makes it far more flattering than your typical cycling helmet.
There are a number of different styles of covers, so you can buy a couple of different ones, and match them to your ensemble.
I get lots of compliments on my helmet, and also I find it a better choice for winter cycling because it keeps me warmer. It is also light and comfortable to wear.
Joe gives it a small thumbs down because there are no attachment points for a helmet light or helmet cam (without cutting holes in the cover). But fortunately, I wouldn’t be caught dead with either of those two appendages on my head, any more than I would be seen in one of those high visibility safety vests that Joe loves so much.
Yakkay is a Danish company, which makes sense because cycling is so popular there. Yakkay has won numerous awards for its fashion forward design.
I love my Yakkay bike helmet … and the cute little bunny logo too! Best of all, it’s very comfortable!
