Are you looking for a safe way to have your phone visible on your bike’s handlebars? Read my review of the TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount! I have been using this bike mount for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. It keeps my phone completely safe, while keeping it visible to me at all times. This makes it easy for me to remotely control my GoPro Hero 4 with my phone, but you could also use it for Strava, Wahoo, Google Maps, or any cycling app you have on your phone. This review examines the issues of keeping your phone safe, ease of installation, and ease of getting your phone on and off the mount.
For me, the most important thing is that my phone is safe. This TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount has that covered in two ways: first, the spring-loaded, rubber side clamps grip it completely securely. Second, there are rubber bands on all four corners for extra security.
Fail Safe Bike Mount – Even for Clumsy Cyclists
As a very clumsy cyclist, I was at first nervous about having my phone on my handlebars. I have experienced the gut wrenching feeling of watching my iPhone fall to the road, and then be run over by four cars – I never want that to happen again. That occurred when my phone fell out of my pocket while I was cycling – needless to say, I don’t carry my phone in my pocket while cycling any more. I have also accidentally thrown my iPhone under an oncoming train. So basically, I am somewhat accident prone with phones, and understandably anxious about destroying another one. But I really needed a safe way to have my phone visible while cycling, so I decided to take a chance on this TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount.
After using the TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount for a few months in many different situations, I am now totally confident about carrying my phone on my handlebars. I have become so relaxed about it that I have forgotten to cinch the rubber bands in place a couple of times, but the phone has not budged. You can see pictures of how the mount works in the slide show below. Hovering over a picture will pause the slide show. Clicking on any of the slides will take you to the latest price on Amazon. As you will see, it is a really good price.
Easy to Install and Use
The second important thing for me with gadgets is that they do not add to my stress level in any way. This Bike Phone Mount scores in that regard as well. It is super easy to install, requiring no tools and no expertise. And you can remove it just as easily, if you suddenly need to put something else on your handlebars. It is also really easy to put the phone on your bike, and even easier to remove it. This is important, because of course you would not want to leave your phone on your bike.
Will the TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount Fit Your Phone?
In case you are wondering if this mount will fit your phone – I have an iPhone 6 with a heavy duty Otter commuter case and bulletproof glass (owing to my prior convictions for smashing phones). It fits easily. I have also tested it with my daughters’ iPhone 6S plus, and it takes that just fine as well. The advertised range is that it will take all kinds of phones from 1.97 inches to 3.94 inches. It is also rated to be mountable on handlebars from 18 to 40 mm (0.71 to 1.57 inches) in diameter. My handlebars are very chunky, and I have no problem.
Bottom Line on my TaoTronics Bike Phone Mount Review
The quality and usefulness of this gadget is really remarkable, especially at this very low price point. If you are looking for a way to safely carry your phone on your bike’s handlebars, you really cannot go wrong with this bike phone mount.
