I’ve found a perfect woman’s cycling jacket for the dark and rainy season! This is a review of the Showers Pass Women’s Club Pro Cycling Jacket, a really great women’s waterproof cycling jacket.
Last winter I cheaped out on an end-of-season rain jacket. I bought on price and in haste and lived to regret the choice. Determined not to repeat the same mistake I did extensive research online and settled on Showers Pass, a company based in Portland, Oregon. Given the wet climate in the Pacific Northwest I was sure I was onto something good.
I bought a vibrant yellow Showers Pass Women’s Club Pro Jacket from Amazon. I chose it for its many useful features. And because in the gloomy winter, I have found yellow to be the safest choice. The jacket is also available in red and pale blue.

Visibility of the Showers Pass Women’s Cycling Jacket
Now to tell you about my Showers Pass Jacket. First and most important is the reflective trim that is visible from every angle, including on the arms. This is very useful if you are trying to turn in the dark, with a whole horde of cyclists behind you. (In fact I almost crashed into a cyclist last year because I couldn’t see her signaling a left turn. Her bike was lit up, but her arm wasn’t). Sure, you can use those detachable lights or wristbands, but I already have enough gear to don in the winter, so the reflective trim on this jacket means there is one less thing I have to worry about.
Pockets in the Showers Pass Women’s Cycling Jacket
Another great feature is front pockets – finally! It has driven me crazy for years that most cycling jackets have only a rear pocket. Not easy if you are trying to get some money out to pay for a coffee. I also like the pit zips. In this part of the world it can be a torrential downpour but still relatively warm, so a waterproof jacket can get a little steamy. Even this one, which is quite impressively breathable.
Women’s-specific fit in the Showers Pass Women’s Cycling Jacket
The women’s-specific fit on my Showers Pass cycling jacket is one of the best I have seen. Unlike the model in this photo, I am a curvy body type and usually find women-specific clothing to be tight across my hips. This jacket is nicely fitted, just skimming the body, and still has room for a warm layer or two underneath. Way to go, Showers Pass!
For sizing purposes – I am a size 12, and the Large is perfect.
The Showers Pass Women’s Cycling Jacket is waterproof!
Now for the best part – it works! It is entirely waterproof. I recently had an extra-long ride on a very dark and stormy night in a bike-unfriendly neighborhood. Not only was I warm and dry, but I was entirely visible and felt very safe.
I even wear my Showers Pass Jacket when I’m NOT riding. It kept me dry at a very rainy Santa Parade that I attended with Connor, my grandson!
I was very impressed that this cycling jacket is so waterproof – and at a much lower price than most Gore-Tex jackets.
No hood on the Showers Pass Women’s Cycling Jacket
The only miss on this jacket is that there is no hood. There are Velcro attach points to add a hood (sold separately), but really – would it have been so difficult to build one in like they have on their Women’s Crossover Jacket? However, the pricing on this particular jacket is very competitive. And you can buy a compatible Showers Pass rain hood separately.
The Showers Pass Women’s Club Pro Jacket rates an Average Joe Cyclist Gold Bicycle Award for style, safety, and function.
