Here is news of a great new KickStarter run by the inventor of a new cycling flask for cyclists. I often wanted one of these – I remember trying to take my coffee traveler in my bottle cage, and how it would noisily rattle around. Not to mention how hard it was to actually get a drink out of it while cycling. Well, someone has come up with a coffee flask that solves those problems. And it’s available for a limited time on KickStarter at a REDUCED PRICE. Let’s help make this invention a reality by helping the inventor reach his goal!

Now, over to inventor James Bellward to tell us all about his coffee flask for cyclists:
James Bellward: “I wanted to combine my love of cycling and coffee by taking a flask out on my rides. This became necessary during COVID-19 as cafes were closed or you couldn’t sit in. I couldn’t find a cycling specific vacuum flask online to keep my coffee hot. Other standard flasks looked good enough for hiking and travel, but all the reviews from cyclists said that they weren’t fit for the purpose. This is something I will use myself in the Royal Air Force when I am out leading adventurous training, and also when competing in cycling.

I wanted a cycling flask made by cyclists for cyclists, and have had a lot of help with the design by the cycling community. I want to see it enjoyed by many people on road, mountain, gravel, electric, touring, and recreational bikes. They can enjoy a cold drink for up to 12 hours and a hot drink for up to 6 hours (depending on the air temperature).
My flask has the following key features:
- Feature #1: It fits bottle cages.
- Feature #2: It can be used on the move with one hand, and comes with 3 lids for your drinking preference.
- Feature #3: It features colorful jersey-inspired designs that may match your bike colors.

My plan is to produce the 14 oz bottle in three colours to begin with. I will then look to offer a larger 18 oz bottle.

Problems Solved by the Cycling Flask
I have addressed a number of pain points that I identified from reading a lot of reviews from cyclists and customers of other bottles.
Problem #1: Standard flasks don’t fit well in their bottle cage, without scratching the bike or bottle
Solution: I’ve used the same measurements as a standard bike bottle to ensure the flask fits the majority of plastic, carbon, and metal bottle cages. The flask locks in place the same way a plastic cycling bottle would, but without that plastic taste. It’s not bulky and does not affect aerodynamics any more than your water bottle would. I’ve used rubberised coating on each flask to give it a better fit and grip.
Problem #2: Normal flasks are hard to use while cycling.
Solution: I am offering three types of lids to cater for different needs.
- The metal lid looks good and is better for those who want to stop and maybe use a cup. It can also be clipped onto a bag.
- The push button lid can be used one-handed to operate the pourer.
- The straw lid can also be used one-handed and can be set up to drink upright or upside-down like a normal bike bottle.
All lids are easy to clean and can be put in the dishwasher (the bottle should be hand washed).
There are several silicone seals inside the lid which help make the lid leak-proof.

Problem #3: The mouth is too narrow, making it hard to clean and add different drink types
Solution: The wide neck/mouth allows for easy cleaning. You can easily place tea, coffee or energy drinks in before your ride.
So far, I’ve managed to get a good prototype made up. I am currently testing the flask to ensure it will be widely accepted by the cycling community.
Please donate to help bring this flask to life. It will mean that I can mass produce the product and you can be the first to show this off on your next ride.

The cycling flask is currently available at 30% discount of $19.45 through this link.
