It’s that time of year when spring is in the air, and most of us are feeling more active, more positive, and more inclined to set new goals. Getting healthier is mainly about two things: more activity, and healthier eating. It’s not that hard to get out more on your bike as the weather improves. But improving our diets can be more challenging. In that respect, I have found a supplement that promises to make it easier to substantially improve your diet without much effort, and fuel your bike rides. Athletic Greens is an interesting all-in-one supplement that aims to cover all of your nutritional and supplemental bases in one drink.
What Does Athletic Greens Offer?
Athletic Greens is a very ambitious supplement, in that it sets out to give you all of the following in one drink:
- The equivalent of 12 servings of antioxidants
- Support for your blood sugar levels
- Superfoods in precisely the right amounts
- Adaptogens and hormone support, particularly for stress
- Liver detox herbs (flushing out toxins can help with weight loss)
- Digestive enzymes
If this product works for you, it has the potential to cover all of your supplemental needs in one glass. It contains 24 superfoods, including beets, papaya, and broccoli. And the digestive enzymes and probiotics help your body absorb the nutrients provided by all of the super foods, vitamins, and other natural ingredients. In my opinion, this makes it worth a try.
The manufacturers claim:
“Within weeks it’s common to experience reduced food cravings, improved immune function, less bloating and tiredness, and brighter, more vibrant skin. If you stick with the daily routine, the benefits continue to multiply over time. You can achieve your optimum health in 2018, with Athletic Greens.”
Certainly it contains a high quality protein, and we know that protein does a lot of great stuff for our bodies. In particular, Athletic Greens helps to:
- Build lean muscle
- Repair tissue as you age
- Improve immunity and cardiovascular health
- Keep you satiated longer and kill cravings
Personally, I like to start the day with two eggs and a slice of toast, as that seems to keep me full and give me strength throughout the morning. No one ever needed to sell me on the value of breakfast – my body has always told me that! But I cannot do a long bike ride on a breakfast like that – I need my body to focus on my heart and lungs, not my stomach! So this supplement seems like a great way to jump start my bike ride, providing both sustenance and energy to get me going.
The Athletic Greens protein is sourced from the pastures of Australia and New Zealand, and looks to be a great source of grass-fed whey protein.
Athletic Greens has been consistently rated by reviewers in the top three of best supplements. Reviewers on Amazon go as far as to call it miraculous. And all of the reviews mention that the taste is acceptable (some even call it great).
I am still waiting for my order of Athletic Greens to arrive, so I can put it to the test. They have this interesting option, whereby you can get the product at a lower price if you order a monthly supply. It looks like a pretty good deal, but I am going to try a one-off order first.
