Here’s our review of Haylou PurFree Bone Conduction Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones. These provide an option for cyclists to listen to music or podcasts, while still being totally aware of our surroundings. Bone-conduction technology has now developed to the point where I forget that I am not wearing regular headphones. At the same time, I remain vigilant to everything going on around me, which is of course a major safety issue for cyclists and pedestrians.
These headphones come in at an attractive price point, and feature the latest technology, including a Qualcomm 3044 chipset and Bluetooth 5.2 technology.

Construction
These headphones look and feel premium. They are constructed from silicone and titanium, to stand up to our athletic lifestyles.
Also, they fit easily under a cycling helmet, and are very low profile. I find myself having conversations with people who don’t even realize I am listening to something at the same time.

Connection with Bluetooth
These Haylou PurFree Bone Conduction Open-Ear headphones were quick, intuitive and easy to connect with my Android phone. Of course, they are also compatible with iOS (Apple) phones.
Also, they re-connect immediately and automatically if you accidentally switch off your Bluetooth and then switch it on again. And one of the best things? I also use them when I am gardening, and find that connection over a distance works well. For example, I can leave my phone in the kitchen, and still enjoy good sound as I wander around all over the back yard.

Charging the Haylou PurFree Bone Conduction Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones
Like other premium headphones, these headphones ship with easy to connect magnetic chargers. Although I don’t always love proprietary chargers, I do like them when they make my life easier. Many headphones use a micro USB, and I find these hard to see and hard to connect.
Everything You Need in Cycling Headphones
These Bluetooth headphones are not just for listening. You can also make good quality phone calls, which I personally find a great way to pass the time on long cycling commutes. And you can activate Siri or Google Assistant, to control your smart phone as you pedal.
Apart from voice control, you can also use the minimalist but effective buttons to play/pause your music, skip to the previous or next track, increase or decrease volume, answer or decline phone calls, and to wake up Siri or Google assistant.

Bottom Line on the Haylou PurFree Bone Conduction Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones
Overall, the Haylou PurFree Bone Conduction Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones look like a premium quality product, and perform well. They will stay firmly on your head all day, retain their Bluetooth connection perfectly, and keep you entertained for hours, regardless of whether you are cycling, running, or performing headstands. All while leaving you 100% in touch with your surroundings, as your ears are wide open. In short, we recommend these headphones for cyclists who want to be entertained, while still staying alert and safe in traffic or on trails.
