It’s time to start planning some bike touring. How about a Gulf Island getaway? Salt Spring Island is a great place for bike touring – and here’s a Gulf Island bed and breakfast that actually rewards you for being a cyclist!

Hedgerow House is a boutique-style Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Ganges on Salt Spring Island. It offers a Pedal Power Discount, along with a safe, dry place to store bicycles, and is flexible about arrival times.
Over to Jayne Lloyd-Jones, one of the new owners of Hedgerow House, to tell you about the inn and this great Gulf Island bed and breakfast:
Pedal Power Discount
Cyclists and pedestrian visitors are especially welcome at Hedgerow House, where we strive to limit our carbon footprint and reward those who do the same. Hedgerow House offers a 5% discount to guests who arrive on two wheels or on foot – including motorcyclists. So pump up the tires and hop on the saddle for a discounted stay.

Small Carbon Footprint
Our eco initiatives include solar hot water, an EV charger, locally sourced produce for breakfast, locally made cleaning fluids, island sourced shampoos, soaps and conditioners; a vegetable garden that supplies many of our breakfast ingredients; wind-dried sheets and towels, and much more.
Soak up the spirit of the island while you rest, meditate, walk the trails and beaches or take advantage of the many activities in Ganges.

Saturday Salt Spring Market
A visit to the Saturday Salt Spring Market should be top of every visitor’s agenda. To sell at the market, stallholders have to “grow it, bake it, or make it”, so you know every bar of soap or loaf of bread is home-grown. Need a beehive or an apple pie? An angora woolen scarf or handcrafted wooden bowl? Looking for wearable treasures or locally grown lamb? You’ll find it all here. You can also visit midweek when the smaller Tuesday and Wednesday markets showcase similar wares, with less hustle and bustle.

Adventure Island!
Salt Spring Island, often called ‘The Rock’, is larger than it seems. Although only 30 km from one end to another, what seems like a small island soon mushrooms into a continent with several mountains, three provincial parks, endless bays, harbours, walking trails, and lakes large and small to explore. Mt Erskine has mountain trails strewn with fairy doors; secluded spots like Beddis Beach are made for whiling away an afternoon; groves of old-growth forests in Ruckle Park entice at any season. Go for a swim in St Mary’s Lake or Cushion Lake where yoga students perform downward dog on stand-up paddle boards; play a game of disc golf on a course buried deep in Mouat Park.
