Despite really nasty weather, the current Hub Bike to Work week in Metro Vancouver is smashing all previous fall bike to work week records.
The Bike to Work weeks support cyclist commuters and encourages new cyclist commuters. This week 4,155 cyclists have signed up, of whom 719 are brand new! That’s a really impressive number!
I stopped by a friendly Celebration Station hosted by Caps Westwood in Burnaby this morning. What a bright spot in a soggy commute – friendly smiles, mutual bike-admiration, coffee, and snacks. Plenty of people were taking advantage of the free bike repairs, too.
It’s thanks to the organizers, Hub, and all the great sponsors that we have these inspiring events. You can find out who these generous sponsors are if you go to the bottom of the How it Works page.
There’s still one more day to register and get out there and join the Bike to Work cyclists, stop at the stations, and possibly win prizes.
Halloween Party!
Finally, Hub says in their latest email: “You’re invited to our Bike to Work Week Wrap-up Bike Halloween Party at Olympic Village from 4-7pm this Friday, October 31st. Join us for free Ethical Bean hot chocolate, free bike repairs & tons of treats. Come in costume and you can be entered in our bike halloween contest!”
Here are the sponsors, to whom I say THANK YOU!
