No. 1: Woolie Boolie Merino Socks
At a solid number 1 on my list of 7 best gifts for cyclists are Woolie Boolie merino socks (cheap but great)! Below is Maggie’s review of Woolie Boolie socks.
I’m in love … with my Woolie Boolie socks. In my never ending quest for warmth and dryness during my winter bike commute, I discovered these premium socks. They are a super-comfortable blend of nylon, lycra, and merino wool. If you have never had merino wool next to your skin, you are in for a treat. So, so soft! These socks are also comfortable and durable. Despite many washings and dryings they still fit beautifully. The best thing about wool is that it continues to insulate even when it is wet. Since I have yet to perfect keeping completely dry in our Pacific Northwest winter, I still get wet cycling on the worst wet days. With these socks, my feet are warm and wet, not cold and wet. Much better! Best of all these socks are cute…yes, cute. I love the little sheep logo and the “Defeet” across my toes. They make me smile every time I put them on.
No. 2: MonkeyLectric Monkey Lights
Our pick for the best FUN gift for cyclists is a set of MonkeyLectric Monkey Lights (reviewed here). MonkeyLectric lights turn a bike wheel into a brightly lit, kaleidoscopic spinning wheel. With endless programming possibilities, cyclists can choose their own personal favorite colors and patterns. They are quick and easy to attach to the spokes of any bike, as seen in this photo.
MonkeyLectric Monkey Lights are a really FUN way for cyclists to make themselves visible and safe on theirs bike. And at Christmas time, you can program them to flash red and green stars, for a really festive Christmas bike ride!
No. 3: A Cycling Balaclava
Keep your loved one warm and cozy with a cycling balaclava. Believe me, they’ll think of you with love when they’re biking home in pouring rain – but with a dry, warm head! I did tons of research to find the best balaclava, and reported on my research here, in this post about the 7 Best Cycling Balaclavas.
No. 4: A Garmin Edge 530 Bike Computer
If the cyclist in your life is techie and wants to do some serious cycle training, get him or her a Garmin Edge 530 Bike Computer. It looks great, measures every possible cycling metric, and feels like sheer quality. It offers navigation, so it is great for cyclists who do long cycling tours or vacations. You can read about the best Garmin Edge bike computers in our post called Garmin Edge 1030 vs. 830 vs. 530.
No. 5: A Garmin Edge 25 Bike Computer
If the cyclist in your life is techie, but is NOT planning to do any cycle touring, then spend much less money and still earn major brownie points by giving him or her a Garmin Edge 25 GPS Bike Computer. It’s billed as the smallest GPS bike computer in the world, but still packs a whole lot of power in its tiny, less than 1 oz frame. For a lot less money than most high-end bike computers, the Garmin Edge 25 tracks distance, calories burned, speed, location, and time. It can be used to upload bike rides to Garmin Connect or Strava, so it’s really all many cyclists need to keep track of how many miles they cycle. You can read all about the Garmin Edge 25 here.
No. 6: Safe Headphones for Cyclists – Trekz Titanium Bluetooth open ear bone conduction earphones
If the person you love loves music, then the best gift for him or her could be Trekz Titanium Bluetooth open ear bone conduction headphones. Give the gift of music without the irritation of wires snaking in and out of clothes. Also, these earphones leave the ear wide open, so the cyclist can hear traffic noises.
